My 2016 Wrap-up in a Post

It is that time of the year again. Time for 2016 wrap up and looking forward for the new year 2017. As much of my time revolves around books, reading and writing, I following wrap up my year with the books I’ve read, my favorite quotations and my poems/thoughts.

My books and ratings:

The Zahir (Paulo Coelho): Simple. Impressed me less than other works by this author (The Alchemist and Eleven Minutes my faves). My rating: 3/5
Modern Romance (Aziz Ansari): Light read. Funny. My rating: 4/5
The Kite Runner (Khaled Housseiny): My best read for the year. My first reading for this author and definitely plan on reading his other two books (A Thousand Splendid Suns and And The Mountains Echoed). Story events feel real and very well developed. You can relate to the characters and events. My rating: 5/5
The Girl on The Train (Paula Hawkins): Enjoyable thriller. Liked the book better than the movie. My rating: 4/5
Adultery (Paulo Coelho): Again not one of my best reads for this author. My rating: 3/5

My poems and thoughts:

The Haunt III

I feel like running
Afraid storm is coming that
Haunt me from my past
A haiku found poetry from Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall”

The Undeclared

To you
I write today
As the sun hugs the sea
I regret what I never told
My love

The Heart You Keep

Time heals all, they said
I know they tricked me though, for
the heart you still keep

One Night in September

It was a cold September night
When you recited your vows to become another’s knight
It was all so sudden
Where was all this hidden
Who could have known
On a chilly Fall night you would be gone
Leaving behind a love of years
And many haunting memories
No, there are no regrets ahead
No, there are no tears left to shed

My Friend…

My friend,Your actions lately I fail to comprehend
Far and aloof you have become
Restless I am, your falseness unable to overcome
Is it you or me?
Everlasting the heartache, worthless the apology
Nonetheless you strangely remain
Dearest to my heart no matter the pain

Face To Destiny

Her velvet veil vanishes
Revealing  a fair familiar face
Into dark-grey dazzling eyes I dare to dive
I dare to drown deep into my destiny

Confessions of Cinderella

Cinderella runs away fast
Knowing the magic shall not last
It is hard for dreams to prevail
For this is all but fairy-tale
The clock bangs announcing midnight
Time to bid farewells to her knight
Sadly she weeps, to no avail
For this is all but fairy-tale
Carrying out usual chores
She futilely hopes that he shows
But prince charming loses the trail
For this is all but fairy-tale
